This year’s IPL, the world’s most popular T20 cricket competition, will be hosted in India. The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has announced the addition of two additional teams to the IPL auction 2023: Ahmedabad and Lucknow, bringing the total number of IPL teams to ten. IPL Auction 2023
There will be 590 players up for auction in this year’s big IPL auction. Aside from the core maintained players, all of the clubs will have fresh player combinations, adding to the excitement of the auction. Every year, BCCI offers you the chance to see the auction in person, and this year will be no exception. Watch it live in some of these places.
The players are into four categories: batsman, bowler, all-rounder, and wicketkeeper, as well as their level of international experience (capped or uncapped). Players are assigned to various sets (62) based on their base price and specialism, with the auctioneer (Hugh Edmeades) running through the list of player names and asking teams to choose.
The first ten players to be auctioned will be the headline players. Players who went unsold in the initial rounds but were asked by at least one of the teams to re-enter towards the conclusion of the auction will be able to do so sooner.
IPL Auction 2023 Players list
The number of players for the IPL 2023 auction was cut from 1214 to 590. At the request of the ten franchises, 44 more names were written in the auction pool, resulting in this final list.
Starting at Rs 2 crore, there are 48 participants in the top tier. There are 20 players on the list with a base price of 1.5 crores and 34 with a reserve price of 1 crore.
Indian players
A total of 370 Indian cricketers and 220 international cricketers would be up for grabs, with up to 48 players opting for the Rs 2 crore tier.
Foreign players
The franchises target pacers Trent Boult, Pat Cummins, and Kagiso Rabada, as well as the Australian all-rounders Mitchell Marsh and Steve Smith, former Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan, and big-hitting South African Faf du Plessis. They have all qualified for the top bracket.
According to a PTI report, Indian legends Suresh Raina and Robin Uthappa may not find many takers at an introductory price of Rs 2 crore.
Twenty athletes have a reserve price of Rs 1.5 crore on the auction list, while 34 cricketers have a reserve price of Rs 1 crore.
Live Auction Date and Time
In October of last year, the BCCI staged an auction in the UAE to choose the last two teams. The Glazer family attended the sale, owners of Manchester United, a prominent English football team. The Adani group, as well as stars Ranveer and Deepika, were among those involved. With a massive price of 7,090 crores, the RPSG group, led by Sanjiv Goenka, who formerly controlled the Rising Pune Supergiants IPL side, was the top bidder for the Lucknow franchise. On the other hand, CVC Capital paid 5,625 crores for the Ahmedabad (Gujarat Titans) franchise.
The IPL’s major auction will occur in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13, with 590 players expected to go under the hammer. At 11 a.m., the auction will begin. During its 15th season, the IPL will feature some of the greatest names in cricket.
IPL 2023 Venues
The matches would be in India, according to BCCI President Sourav Ganguly. It will take place over two months and include at least 74 matches. However, teams other than the Mumbai Indians would not be allowed to play at their home grounds since the league matches will be in Mumbai and Pune.
The Tata Group will replace Vivo as the official sponsor of the IPL between 2023 and 2023. According to reports, the play-offs will be at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi stadium. The BCCI intends to enable up to 25% of the spectator capacity.
